People who struggle with achieving their goals often lack a belief in themselves that they, too, can become as successful as their peers and colleagues. Many go around unaware of the negative attitudes and thoughts that they constantly carry with them and which are largely responsible for blocking their goals. Wealth creation experts, life coaches and self development specialists identify these negative thoughts as barriers and recommend that these be replaced with positive affirmation.
What is Positive Affirmation?
An affirmation is a declaration about something, which if stated in a positive light, produces a powerful energy that attracts good things to its originator. It starts with a positive belief in something that is verbalized into a statement. Conversely, a negative affirmation is a statement that reflects what is undesired and which has the capacity to attract negative events. On the fundamental level, it follows the natural law of attraction which states that “Like attracts like.” What a person perceives, believes and affirms flows right back.
Basic Principles of Positive Affirmation
Thoughts have energies: The mind is a powerful transmitter that emits brain waves or energies that are invisible to the eye but are easily detected by instruments such as an electroencephalogram (EEG). Thoughts that are aligned with an affirmation produce a powerful energy that generates the desired result or goal.
Belief in something energizes an affirmation: It is essential for an affirmation to be backed by a person’s belief in it. Any doubt about the reality of an affirmation will diminish the energy it gives off and thwart its power to achieve a desired result.
Repetition increases belief: Affirmations must be repeated at various times of the day to produce a belief in the mind that these statements can be achieved. As belief in an affirmation increases, so does the energy it produces which leads to its realization.
A good starting point for anyone who wants to use positive affirmation to change aspects of life is to clear the mind of negative thoughts, perceptions, beliefs and attitudes. Replace these with positive words and ideas relating to a goal and repeat these often by writing them in a journal, posting them on conspicuous places and stating the affirmation at least twice a day. Stating an affirmation in the present tense also increases belief in it. Affirmations are for everyone and can be used to change all aspects of life such as work, relationships, health and finances.
