Positive Affirmations And Why They Work So Effectively

An affirmation is not so different from the common old saying, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.”  Some of us are stubborn as a horse but that’s not how the old saying applies.  The classic saying relates to affirmations because we all know that affirmations are positive but nobody can make us do them – we have to do it ourselves.  There are three different ways to see effective results from affirmations.  The first is to understand the psychology of the aspiration.  Second, we need to see how they play a positive role for us in our lifes.  Last, we need to understand how our subconscious mind can absorb the positive affirmations.  It’s a combination of these three elements that really make an affirmation effective and become a part of our daily lives.

The Psychology of an Affirmation

The psychology of an affirmation is most clearly stated by its definition.  An affirmation is a positive statement that you believe to be true.  Our minds process and sort everything by how we categorize it.  What that means is that the more positive things we store in our minds the more we will switch to a certain pattern of thinking.  In this case, the affirmation gives us a positive pattern of thinking.  These patterns become part of our conscious and subconscious minds.  In the end, the affirmation has really helped us retrain ourselves to think positively and believe positive results, solutions, and opportunities will come our way.

Using Affirmations in Our Conscious Minds

Very few people have always been perfect at something.  Athletes practice endless hours to perfect their sports.  Scientists work diligently to find answers to problems.  People can spend hours trying to complete a crossword puzzle.  Mastering affirmations is a skill that needs to be developed.  When you are working on incorporating affirmations into your life you will need to make them all consciously.  Your mind will not just start thinking affirmatively for you.  What that means is that you find ways to express the positive things you want to happen at that moment, day, or in your life out loud whenever possible.  Looking at yourself in a mirror is an excellent way to do conscious affirmations because you are forced to pay attention to only you.  Here are some other places that you should consider when practicing affirmations.

1. Your car

2. At work

3. While walking

4. During conversations with people

5. In your journal

Getting in the habit of conscious affirmations will bring you to the next step – subconscious affirmations.

Absorbing Affirmations in the Subconscious Mind

Our subconscious mind is trained over a long period of time. Every experience a person has is stored in the memory bank and all those memories or learned things become what we are overall. To change habits and traits that have been learned over a very long time can seem hard. Positive Affirmations applied consciously will get you on the right track. If you can find a way to permanently be reminded of your positive affirmation even if you are not thinking about them then magic will happen fast. A way of doing this is to use Reflectaffirmâ cards in your car. You may not consciously see the Affirmation which is reflected in the windscreen of your car. It is there though, all the time. You are actually looking straight through it to concentrate on the traffic. If you incorporate subconscious affirmations as part of your daily life some spectacular things will happen. Affirmations for success really become effortless and powerful!

The psychology of affirmations and the effective impact they have on our conscious and subconscious minds is astounding.  There are very few things as powerful that we can do for ourselves that are free, always available, and so beneficial.
